Kids and Their Dogs!!:

Low-cost training lessons for your child and dog.
We come and work with your child (usually 8 years and older,) and puppy or adult dog at your
home with you present. We teach your child how to be safe around your dog and how to
understand the dog's perspective. Often times with the way that kids move and the tone of their
voice and their smaller stature, dogs can view the kids of the family as litter mates or sometimes
even a squeaky toy! We will help your child talk their dog's language and learn how to better
teach their dog.
We start with sit for polite manners, wait at the door and walking on leash. Other commands can
be added such as taking a treat politely or come when called etc. Once these skills are
mastered, future lessons can still be in your home or we can meet at the park or other locations in
your neighborhood (with a parent still present.) We strengthen your child's ability to get your dog
to pay attention and obey with increasing distractions.
To keep both your child's and dog's interest, we then start integrating the obedience work with the
FUN!! We can include:
- Agility For Fun
- Getting a Taste of the Show Ring in Conformation
- Frisbee and Fetch
- Hide and Seek and Other Games
For the first lesson since we are spending a longer time with your child and dog, the lesson is an
hour or more and costs $75. After that the price goes down to $59 - we spend about 45 minutes
for these lessons. (Please add $15 for the longer time needed for an agility lesson.) Depending
upon your location there may also be a small travel fee.
Please contact us to learn more if this is a good match for your family!
If you want to prepay online for a lesson with your credit card, follow this link and
click on a la carte lessons. Or you can pay with cash or checks at your
appointments. There are no minimum or maximum number of appointments
and at the end of the first appointment your trainer/instructor will give you an
overview of what to expect with your specific child and dog team.
